The question is how to make room for more of that curiosity and capability beyond the classroom. How can you tell what your kid really understands beyond a report card? How can you help them use AI to deepen their learning without letting it do the thinking for them? Which life skills should they start practicing at home?

“Mom, school is so boring.”

When my two insatiably curious daughters who loved to learn came home saying, “Mom, school is so boring,” I started looking for a way to educate them differently. That search led me to help build Alpha School.

At Alpha, the school day is designed around about two hours of AI-powered, mastery-based, personalized academics in the morning, leaving the afternoon for life skills workshops and team-based projects. We make three core commitments to our families: students will love school, learn twice as much in two hours a day, and build life skills.
